It’s ironic that I opened the Bible the other night to Psalm 70 and wrote song lyrics about it when I wrote, just last week, that Jesus might return, imminently, because it’s been seventy years since Israel has been a modern state. Not just words, but every number in the Bible, like seventy, has great significance. It goes without saying that we should take the Bible very seriously.
Jesus has not returned yet and it’s discouraging, but it encourages me that, by sticking close to the Bible, I wrote faithfully, and God seems to have shown me that I’ve been on the right track.
PSALM 70 lyrics
Hurry, God, to deliver me
I’m poor, and needy
You’re, oh, LORD, my Deliverer
Be quick, to be here
Let them be embarrassed
and mixed up
that seek after my life
Let them be turned backward
who desire my hurt
Let shame be their guide
Don’t waste any time
Hurry, God, to deliver me
I’m poor, and needy
You’re, oh, LORD, my Deliverer
Be quick, to be here
Let all those that seek you
be real glad
for your sacrificed life
Bless them, all, to magni-
fy you for your great works
Men, women you’ve saved
continually praise
Hurry, God, to deliver me
I’m poor, and needy
You’re, oh, LORD, my Deliverer
Be quick, to be here
