Jesus Alone

It’s a new year and it’s becoming abundantly clear
that we’re near the end
and we need a friend

As the world unravels
so, we need an ally
You don’t have to travel
just to see the battles

Jesus’s disciples had
And they did not see anyone except Jesus alone

Like a good gym where there are weights that we are going to lift
and he’s the best coach
that athletes all know

When we need direction
And our secret weapon
And we need protection
And got God’s attention

Jesus’s disciples were on the mount of transfiguration
and saw the lawgiver and the prophet but God made them both go
All that was left after they were gone was Jesus
And they did not see anyone except Jesus alone

What will it be? will we keep living in the wicked one’s dream?
Please, people, wake up
to Jesus’s love

Startled yet still drowsy
clock alarms are sounding
Lights on in the house are
minds that wrap around this

Jesus’s disciples did
And they did not see anyone except Jesus alone

Face the one man, alone, essential to the place where we stand
We know in our hearts
it’s put there by God

But the simple nations
go on with complaining
Fists are clenched and shaking
at our Lord and Savior

Jesus’s disciples were on the mount of transfiguration
and saw the lawgiver and the prophet but God made them both go
All that was left after they were gone was Jesus
And they did not see anyone except Jesus alone

Have a Happy New Year
