We reach a point where we’re face to face with God
and at a crossroads where all people want to hide
since one way’s very dark, the other’s very bright
The Lord has wisely made our road a rotten place on purpose
so, all of us may learn to serve him
And at that crossroads with Jesus up, ahead
we shake our fists at him when we should all submit
unless we realize that there’s no way we’d win
The Lord has wisely made our road a rotten place on purpose
so, all of us may learn to serve him
“And the son said to him, Father
I have sinned against Heaven and before you
and no longer am I worthy to be called your son
But the father said to his slaves
Bring out the best robe and clothe him
and give a ring to his hand and sandals to his feet
And bring the fatted calf
slaughter and let us eat and be merry
for this son of mine was a dead one, and lived again
and was lost, and was found
And they began to be merry.”
The Lord has wisely made our road a rotten place on purpose
so, all of us may learn to serve him
“You shall not have any other gods before me,” is the first commandment
Before that, with Adam and Eve and the serpent present, God said, “The ground shall be cursed because of you.”
The Lord has wisely made our road a rotten place on purpose
so, all of us may learn to serve him
