NO IDOLS BEFORE GOD
What we are up against
has got so many heads
and threatening arms
and hands
that it’s impossible
with finite human minds
and puny legs
to stand
But Lord, you know the end from the beginning
and all of life’s intricacies
and the enemy
I’ve fallen where I’ve walked where it’s so slippery
in all of my wickedness but
you’ve protected me
From you, I was rebelling
and it’s so overwhelming
I don’t deserve your mercies
No, not anything
Like the prodigal son, or Daniel in the lion’s den
Please forgive me
I fell, in the fighting
Please stretch out your mighty arms and save me
because there’s no one else that I can turn to
I’ve got so much on my plate now, from this great test
I’m gonna go to the mountains and get some rest
To Thanksgiving…
