I love the National Basketball Association, but my favorite team is the San Antonio Spurs. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are their star players, and they have role-players on their team who play smaller roles, but they all play together to win.
In our lives, all of us are like star players and have role-players but not all have other stars.
In my life, I lost a star player when my ex-wife divorced me. She left me holding the contract, and I’ve held it alone, to this day. I might get married again and my new wife will be a star with me but currently, God is my only other star. And, like everybody else, I have role-players.
We wouldn’t want things to get too confusing.
There are many team-arrangements in peoples’ lives. It looks as if most people, unfortunately, don’t have God for another star. He doesn’t choose everyone, or everyone would be good, and we know that’s not happening. Also, many don’t have a wife or husband to be their other stars. And some sign business contracts with others, but they are not quite like the marriage contract. But all are stars of their own lives and have role-players.
It’s good to have a great coach like the Spurs’ Gregg Popovich. But coaches don’t play, like the players, so they’re like role-players.
And sometimes stars come and go, like Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili, who are getting old and are, one day, sad to say, going to retire. Fortunately, they can be replaced by new players, like the Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard.
For some sports and non-sports enthusiasts, all of this might seem confusing or unfair, but that doesn’t make it untrue. It’s unfortunate that most don’t step it up and study all of this as they should, or life wouldn’t be as bad as it is. And if we don’t give appropriate support to our stars, and/or give the wrong people star-status, we won’t play very well together on our teams in life. People who mostly only care about themselves and don’t care enough about their teammates don’t give it their all and shortchange their teams, and everybody loses. All it takes is prioritizing.
I think I’m fair with the other star in my life, and my role-players, and my opponents.
I could be an NBA team General Manager.
